Purse Puppies are probably not the in-vogue gift for 11-almost-12-year-old girls, I realized too late, but that’s what I picked up at the convenience store today. The little girl accepted the pink furry gift so graciously, I just wanted to hug her.

Okay, now you have me wondering….what are purse puppies? I have three granddaughters, so I really should know this, right? And what is the appropriate age for them?
They’re a cute little stuffed dog in a matching fake-fur purse, probably perfect for the 5- to 9-year-old girlie girl but not so great for an 11-year-old. The last time we saw her, she was just barely 9, and time stood still for us. In a blink, she became a tweener.
